I saw Bon Jovi's newest album on the shelf and headed for check out without listened to the songs in the album before. If I have listened to the mp3, I probably won't buy the album. Having said that, it is an excellent album, but a very different Bon Jovi.

The Lost Highway has taking a twist toward country rock and drifted from the pop rock, traditional Bon Jovi, ie. "It's My Life" and "Have a Nice Day". Not too sure was this change inspired by their collaboration with Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles "Who Says You Can't Go Home" in Have a Nice Day or went further back to their accoustic reworking of some of their popular songs in This Left Feels Right, although the latter did not work that well.

I'm not a country music fan but I think the band did a great job balancing out the two and it is interesting to see Bon Jovi went from hair metal in the 80's to country music in 2007. It is nice to see the band added new elements to their music and worked out so well. Every song is wicked! Bon Jovi really "hit the gas and ain't no brakes" and managed to find the right way.

But I still love the hard-edged pop rock Bon Jovi. =P

* For some mysterious reason, this article was gone when I checked my site this morning. I've to retype it and unfortunately, I do not remember what I wrote last time. I sure did add some thoughts in which was not added in on my Xanga, well...
